“Per Bloland’s “Pedr Solis,” given its premiere staging on Friday by Guerilla Opera, hit a sweet spot… the whole thing — as usual with Guerilla Opera — realized with energy and commitment. […] The singers, all Guerilla Opera familiars, were uniformly estimable. “

Premiere: May 15, 2015 (6 performances)
Location: The Zack Box at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee
Music by Per Bloland
Libretto by Paul Schick
Directed by Laine Rettmer
“The production by Guerilla Opera proved to have as much sex, violence, special effects, blood and guts, and dead bodies at the end as anything by Richard Strauss… stage director Laine Rettmer gave this heady stuff a robust physicality that drove the drama forward… Equally forceful was Bloland’s scoring for booming electronics and live musicians.”

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:
Pedr Solis is partially based on “The Tower,” a play by Hugo von Hofmannsthal, and the life of Norwegian author Pedr Solis. In 1970 Solis’s novel “Stillaset” spills into his real life in Oslo. The Nordic god Loki narrates. Click here to download and read the libretto.
