Mike Williams,

Ensemble Director & Co-Founding Artist

Hailed by The Boston Globe as “one of the city’s best percussionists,” Mike Williams is an advocate for contemporary music, a member of the new music sinfonietta Sound Icon, the Calithumpian Consort, and is a co-founding artist of Guerilla Opera as well as former co-artistic director, with whom he has commissioned and premiered many new chamber operas since 2007. Williams has worked directly with many of the leading composers of our time including Pierluigi Billone, Philippe Leroux, Salvatore Sciarrino, Gunther Schuller, and Roger Reynolds.

Keithlyn Parkman,

Director of Design and Production

Keithlyn B Parkman graduated the from Boston University College of Fine Arts with a BFA in Lighting Designer. During her time at BU she came across this crazy little opera family and the rest is history. Recent various Guerilla credits include Chrononhotonthologos, Loose Wet Perforated, and Beowulf. Upcoming project include Dancing Girl (SheNYC), Salvation (Shapeshifter Labs) and Black Inscription (Cotuit Arts Center)

Maggi Chauby, Community and Education Manager & Touring Associate

Magdalyn Chauby (she/her) is a local soprano and actor. Maggi is attending graduate school at New England Conservatory for vocal performance. She has been involved in many facets of music making, from teaching to stage managing to performing. In 2018, Maggi graduated with a double degree in vocal performance and music education from Ithaca College. She is excited to join the Guerilla Opera team and further her involvement in the field of contemporary music.

Alex Roges, Marketing Intern

Alex Roges is beyond enthusiastic to start her first internship with Guerilla Opera as a marketing intern! She comes from Orange County, California. Alex is an undergraduate student at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee majoring in vocal performance. She has been the historian for the Latinx Student Alliance at Boston Conservatory since January 2022, where she began doing social media marketing. Alex is the cantor at St. Ignatius Catholic Church during the Spanish service in Chestnut Hill, MA. She is a first generation student, with her parents coming from Mexico and Cuba. She was drawn to Guerilla Opera’s unique and experimental works and is excited to promote their productions. Alex hopes to participate in future opera productions and share her love of music with audiences to come.

Aliana de la Guardia,

Executive Director & Co-Founding Artist

A Cuban-American artist and entrepreneur who is a co-founding artist and Artistic Director of Guerilla Opera. A versatile artist and new music and operatic soprano, she has participated in notable collaborations around the US, and can be heard on commercial labels, including PARMA Recordings and BMOP Sound. She is an award-winning arts leader selected to participate in the Nonprofit Learning Institute (Philanthropy MA & Bank of America), Cretive Community Initiative Changemakers (Essex County Community Foundation), Mentorship for Women in Opera (OPERA America), and Double Edge Theatre Mentorship. She has received a Public Art Learning Fund Grant award from the New England Foundation for the Arts, a Valley Creates Capacity Building Grant for Artists award from the Community Foundation of Wester Massachusetts, and is on OPERA America’s Membership Council.

Jeannette Lee, Development Coordinator

Jeannette Lee (she/her) is a mezzo-soprano, educator, and arts administrator and joins Guerilla Opera as the Development and Marketing Coordinator. She is pursuing an Arts Management certificate concurrently with her doctorate degree in Vocal Performance while teaching Aural Skills, Keyboard Harmony, and Applied Lessons at Boston University. Jeannette held the position of Opera Department Graduate Assistant at the New England Conservatory when she did her Master in Music in Vocal Performance there. While as an active member at the Nightingale Vocal Ensemble, she also kickstarted their quarterly newsletter “The Watch”. Jeannette is also a member of the Asian Opera Alliance.

Angela Yam, Marketing Coordinator

Hailed as “radiant” by the Boston Globe, Angela Yam has sung with the Santa Fe Opera, New York City Ballet, Boston Baroque, Chautauqua Opera, and Opera Saratoga. This season, Yam joins Boston Lyric Opera as an Emerging Artist, and makes her company debuts with Opera Parallèle, Guerilla Opera, and Cambridge Chamber Ensemble. Praised for her work in new music, her portrayal of the Bird in Jones’ and Tinley’s ICELAND was described as “stellar…a Puccini-esque soprano with incredible highs.” Yam was a New York City District Winner in the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and her self-directed Visual Recital was awarded 3rd place in the 2022 American Prize Competition. She composed for and directed Nightingale Vocal Ensemble’s award-winning choral opera ADRIFT (2023), and has sung with Music at Co-Cath and Ekmeles Vocal Ensemble.
