Libretto Writing Course Facilitator

Join Guerilla Opera: Calling Teaching Artists for an Exciting Opportunity!

Are you passionate about opera and ready to inspire the next generation of libretto writers? We are a trailblazing force in contemporary opera and are looking for a dedicated Teaching Artist to lead dynamic educational journeys. If you're a creative visionary who wants to mentor and guide artists, we want to hear from you!

Role Overview:

As the facilitator for Guerilla Opera’s Libretto Writing programs, you will design and lead a transformative introductory libretto writing course during the summer of 2024, empowering participants to explore the art of storytelling for the operatic stage. This course consists of four 90-minute sessions, is based on a workshop model, with students writing from prompts, and with instructor and peer feedback.

The facilitator will also lead a dynamic 9-month Writer's Collective, providing essential guidance and support for artists actively working to complete texts for musical settings, including but not limited to opera libretti, song cycles, musical theater, and multi-disciplinary works. The 9-month model is a more in-depth peer-learning experience. It includes sessions with Guerilla Opera leadership providing further feedback in “open mic” segments, where participants will read their text for support and feedback.
