Guerilla Opera is pleased to announce that the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) approved a Grants for Arts Projects award of $15,000. This grant will support the development of The Captivity of Hannah Duston with music by Lansing McLoskey and libretto by Glen Nelson.

Guerilla Opera is pleased to announce that they are among the inaugural recipients of the new Creative Vitality grant program from The Barr Foundation and will receive $150,000 over three years. The foundation’s new Creative Vitality grant program builds on its racial equity work to date and its commitment to centering BIPOC artists, organizations, and communities in its program strategies.

Guerilla Opera’s Community Series begins this month with the first two of several monthly workshops throughout the company’s 17th season, that explore how opera interacts with other art forms. These workshops explore Guerilla Opera’s groundbreaking productions and include fascinating guest speakers pushing the boundaries of opera.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Guerilla Opera drops a new studio album and presents the world premiere of an operatic film of I Give You My Home, a monodrama with music and original libretto by local composer Beth Wiemann and is brought to life by the acclaimed filmmaker, Cara Consilvio.

Guerilla Opera has been selected as the recipient for the Paul R. Judy Center for Innovation and Research Grant from the Institute for Music Leadership at the Eastman School of Music. This award will support the world premiere production of Emily Koh's HER | alive.un.dead, a surrealist, sci-fi drama about two Chinese-American women who meet in the afterlife and explores conflicts between their Western upbringing and Chinese culture.

Guerilla Opera is pleased to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the Staffing the Humanities initiative from Mass Humanities. Alongside Guerilla Opera, Mass Humanities announced grants to eleven organizations with humanities programs.

Our neighbors, the local theater ensemble of Arlekin Players, is composed of Russian and Ukrainian immigrants to the US. When the war in Ukraine began they were mobilized to help the refugees. Please donate, share, repost and follow the Arlekin Players to keep up with their efforts and to make an impact as a community by providing vital support to as many refugees as possible!

Aliana de la Guardia of Guerilla Opera is one of twelve artists, nonprofit and municipal heads who will spend the next eight months immersed in facilitated and project-based learning, peer networking, and leadership trainings, all designed to support a new network of creative civic leaders with the knowledge and skills to help build a more inclusive and sustainable arts and culture ecosystem in Essex County.

Artistic Director, Aliana de la Guardia and Guerilla opera were selected to the 2022 Nonprofit Learning Institute cohort, presented by Bank of America and Philanthropy Massachusetts. This competitive program that selects only 20 nonprofit organizations from a broad cross-section of the nonprofit sector in MA each year.

Cara Consilvio, who will direct I Give You My Home (Beth Wiemann, composer/librettist) for Guerilla Opera is one of nine opera company to receive the 2022 Opera Grants for Women Stage Directors and Conductors.
